The name is of Latin origin and is derived from the old Roman family name Crispinus. This is a Roman cognomen , derived from the Latin adjective 'crispus' = curly, curled, wavy. The name means 'the frizzy one'. The meanings also include 'curly' as well as 'cheerful' and 'carefree'. Today he is mostly related to the Christian martyrs and saints Crispinus and Crispinianus .
