Crispin de Passe the Younger
Crispin de Passe the Younger , also Crispyn II. Or Crispijn II. And de Pas (* 1593/94 in Cologne , † after January 6, 1670 in Amsterdam ) was a draftsman and engraver .
Live and act
Crispin II. De Passe was the son of Crispijn de Pas the Elder and brother of Simon , Willem and Magdalena de Passe. After his father, a Flemish , was expelled from Cologne as a Mennonite , the family lived in Utrecht from 1612 . There Crispin II attended a drawing school, probably that of his father.
In 1613 it is assumed that he was involved in the Emblemata by Gabriel Rollenhagen . From 1617 to 1630 he worked as a drawing teacher in Paris at the Antoine de Pluvinels Pageschool , a Renaissance academy for riding lessons. It is questionable whether he stayed in Paris without a break. His activity in Paris was primarily a book publisher.
After his return from Paris, Crispin worked for his father in Utrecht. After this activity he stayed in Rotterdam and founded his own art publisher in Amsterdam in 1639.
