Cristian Malmagro Viaña (born March 11, 1983 in Granollers , Spain ) is a Spanish handball player . He is 1.91 m tall and weighs 87 kg.
Malmagro, who plays for the Spanish club Handbol Marratxí and played for the Spanish national team, is mostly used as the center of the back room .
Cristian Malmagro started playing handball in his hometown. He also made his debut in the Spanish league ASOBAL for the local first division club BM Granollers , but won no titles. In 2007 he was signed by the top club SDC San Antonio to relieve Renato Vugrinec , San Antonio's sole player in the right backcourt until then. Because of his good performance, he was voted the best half right back player of the season. In 2010 Malmagro joined the Danish club AG København , with which he won the championship in 2011 and 2012. In summer 2012 he moved to Montpellier AHB. With Montpellier, he won the French Cup in 2013. In 2013 he joined the al Ain association. A season later he signed a contract with the Romanian first division club HC Minaur Baia Mare. With Baia Mare he won the championship in 2015. In summer 2015 he joined the Spanish first division club Naturhouse La Rioja . For financial reasons, Malmagro moved to Saudi Arabia at the turn of the year 2015/2016. In March 2019 he joined the Spanish fourth division handbol Marratxí.
Cristian Malmagro made 51 appearances for the Spanish national team and scored 167 goals. At the European Championships in Norway in 2008 he was only part of the extended squad of his country. At the 2008 Olympic Games , he won the bronze medal. He was in Spain's squad for the 2011 World Cup .
