Cristina D'Ancona Costa
Cristina D'Ancona Costa (born March 21, 1956 ) is an Italian historian of philosophy .
After graduating from the University of Pisa with a laurea in the history of medieval philosophy , D'Ancona Costa received a doctorate in the history of ancient philosophy from the University of Padua . They then carried out various research stays at the De Wulf-Mansion Center of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven , at the UPR 76 ( Histoire des Doctrines de l'Antiquité Tardive et du Haut Moyen Age ) of the CNRS and the École Pratique des Hautes Études in Paris . From 1994 to 2003 she was a research assistant at the University of Padua, where she founded the Plotinus Colloquia as well as the editing, translation and commentary project of the Plotino greco-arabo . Since 2004 she has been a research assistant and lecturer in Arabic philosophy of the Middle Ages at the University of Pisa. In addition to participating in other science projects , she has been principal investigator in the Greek into Arabic project since 2010 . D'Ancona Costa is a member of the editorial boards of various professional journals and publication series as well as the scientific advisory board of the École Pratique des Hautes Études and is a founding member of the Academia Platonica Septima Monasteriensis .
D'Ancona Costa deals mainly with the reception of Aristotle and Neoplatonism in Arabic philosophy and their transmission into the Latin Middle Ages . She paid particular attention to the Liber de causis , its Greek and Arabic sources, and Thomas Aquinas' commentary on this anonymous work. She is currently working primarily on the falsely so-called theology of Aristotle , a translation from the Enneades IV-VI of Plotinus into Arabic.
In 2016 she was elected a member of the Academia Europaea .
