Cristina Anna Berta Kury (born January 16, 1949 in Tscherms ) is a politician from South Tyrol ( Italy ).

biography

Kury attended the Beda-Weber-Gymnasium in Meran and then completed a degree in modern languages ​​and literary studies at the University of Verona , which she graduated in 1973. She then worked as a teacher. In 1990 she was elected to the municipal council of her place of residence Meran for the first time, where she is also involved in the cultural field. From 1993 to 2008, Kury was a member of the South Tyrolean Greens in the state parliament and thus also in the regional council of Trentino-South Tyrol . In the state parliament she acted as a parliamentary group spokeswoman for her party.

In 2010 she ran in Merano as a candidate for mayor against incumbent Günther Januth from the South Tyrolean People's Party , but was defeated in the runoff election. In 2013, Kury ran for parliamentary elections in the West Senate constituency ( Burggrafenamt , Vinschgau ), but was unable to win a seat. In 2015 she was re-elected to the municipal council of the city of Merano, where she was group spokesperson for the co-governing list of Rösch-Grüne until she retired from active politics in 2020.
