Cristina Scuccia OSU (born October 2, 1988 in Vittoria ) is an Italian nun from the order of the Ursulines . In 2014 she won the second season of the Italian singing talent show The Voice of Italy .
Life
Scuccia grew up in Sicily . She completed a musical training at the Star Rose Academy in Rome , an acting, singing and music school run by the Ursulines, but later decided to become a nun. After her two-year novitiate in Brazil , she took her religious vows . As an Ursuline she worked as a kindergarten teacher for girls in Milan .
In 2013 she took part in the Good News Festival organized by the Italian Bishops' Conference . Through a video of her appearance there, those in charge of The Voice of Italy became aware of Scuccia and invited her to participate in the casting show. Recordings of her appearances on The Voice of Italy achieved millions of clicks on YouTube and brought Scuccia international media attention. On June 5, 2014, she won the final of the second season of the talent show. Her debut album Sister Cristina was released on November 11, 2014 . Her second CD Felice was released in March 2018 .
