The Croix Catelan was a stadium in Paris.
After long negotiations with the Paris city council, the Racing Club de France received permission to build a sports stadium in a six-hectare enclave in the Bois de Boulogne . This comprised a nearly 500 meter long running track made of grass, a chalet and changing rooms. The opening took place on February 26, 1886. During the Olympic Games in 1900 , the Croix Catelan was the venue for competitions in athletics . It was a large lawn on which a running lap 500 meters long was marked out. The ground was very uneven and there were a lot of trees around, including the interior. The tug of war competition also took place in the Croix Catelan.
In the meantime, a sports complex with over 40 tennis courts, two swimming pools, a football and basketball court and a fitness studio has been built on the site of Croix Catelan. The Open de France de natation was held in one of the swimming pools from 2007 to 2012 .
