Crozerville is a place in the West African Republic of Liberia . Crozerville is located on the Saint Paul River north of the capital Monrovia .
history
The Montserrado County city was founded in 1865 by settlers arriving from the United States and the Caribbean island of Barbados and named after John P. Crozer and Samuel A. Crozer , both influential and wealthy supporters of the American Colonization Society (ACS). The inland location was chosen to counteract the high mortality rate of the settlers caused by yellow fever and malaria . The Crozerville region quickly became a center of plantation economy, specializing in ginger and arrowroot .
The Liberian journalist Albert Porte , a critic of President William S. Tubman and editor of the Crozerville Observer, was born in Crozerville .
