The Cruyt Spur is a 920 m high rock spur in northern Grahamland on the Antarctic Peninsula . It rises 6 km northeast of Ruth Ridge and extends from the south face of the Detroit Plateau over a length of 3 km.
Measurements by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey from 1960 to 1961 were used to map it. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it on February 12, 1964 after the Belgian engineer William Cruyt who had developed a snowmobile ( tracteur auto-polaire ) in 1907 .
