Cuba Gooding senior

Cuba Gooding senior (* 27. April 1944 in New York City , New York ; † 20th April 2017 in Woodland Hills , California ) was an American Soul - singer and front singer of R & B band The Main Ingredient . He was also under contract as a soloist with Motown Records in the late 1970s and early 1980s . His biggest hit from this period was Happiness Is Just Around the Bend (1983), originally recorded by Brian Auger's Oblivion Express in 1973.

Gooding had four children with his wife, the singer Shirley Gooding, including the actors Cuba Gooding junior (* 1968) and Omar Gooding (* 1976). Cuba Gooding Senior died a week before his 73rd birthday.
