Curimus is a Finnish thrash and death metal band from Loimaa that was formed in 2004.
history
At the end of summer 2004 the drummer Jucca Ääri and the guitarist Juha-Matti Helmi met by chance in a bar. After Helmi left his previous band Autere, he contacted Ääri, whereupon they decided to found Curimus. Jucca's bass-playing twin brother Jarno Ääri was also there. The three rehearsed for the first time on November 4th, 2004. After Helmi met his childhood friend Marko Silvennoinen, he joined the band as a singer. After another rehearsal, the band had made the first three songs. A first demo appeared in autumn 2006, before the first appearance was held the following year. This was followed by three more demos, over 70 concerts and various changes in the line-up. The band, which in the meantime consisted of the singer Marko Silvennoinen, the guitarist Juha-Matti Helmi, the bassist Juho Manninen and the drummer Jari Nieminen, then went into the studio for their debut albumRealization , which was released in February 2012. The album was distributed by Inverse Records . The second album Artificial Revolution was released in 2014, although it was produced by the band itself under the leadership of Tom Gardiner and Daniel Rantanen . This time the album was distributed through Svart Records .
style
According to laut.de, the band plays Thrash Metal with influences from Swedish Death Metal. Characteristic of the music are mainly the powerful growling and shouting of the singer Silvennoinen. Its spectrum ranges from Dew-Scented to Randy Blythe . The riffs are comparable to those of Exodus and Sepultura . Paulomaniaco from metal-temple.com also described the music on Artificial Revolution as a mixture of death and thrash metal. The songs have a Nordic touch and influences from groups like Slayer , Sepultura and Machine Head can be heard.
