Svart Records is a record label from Finland, founded in 2009 by Jarkko Pietarinen and Tomi Pulkki, which mainly signs doom metal bands .

history

Pietarinen and Pulkki founded the label from the desire to own some albums as vinyl editions. Contacting Spinefarm Records was the first focus of the Turku- based label. After the first publications, the label, originally started as a hobby, developed into a company that Pulkki described as full-time employment. Despite the initial focus on re-releases, the label founders did not want to limit the activities of Svart Records to new editions of well-known works and concluded contracts with various music groups. The label released more than 100 albums per year from then on. All albums are distributed internationally. Pulkki names Western Europe as the strongest sales market .

Well-known interpreters published by Svart Records include Mantar , Beastmilk , Skepticism , Acid King , Dark Buddha Rising and Kuolemanlaakso . Sublabels were initiated for pop music , jazz and the publications of the space rock band KXP . For KXP 2010 Öm and for representatives of jazz and pop in 2016 Jazz Liisa and Pop Liisa.

philosophy

Svart Records releases are referred to as Various. The contract philosophy is based solely on the taste of the two label founders. A musical focus of the label is on different derivatives of Doom Metal.
