Tampa Bay Storm were acquired by Jeffrey Vinik's Tampa Bay Sports & Entertainment Group in 2010. This also owns the Tampa Bay Lightning ice hockey team .

On December 22, 2017, the Tampa Bay Sports & Entertainment Group announced that the franchise would not participate in the 2018 season.
