Curt Engels

Curt Engels (born July 4, 1884 in Hamburg ; † April 8, 1964 there ) was a German lawyer and politician .

Life

Engels was born in 1884 as the son of the businessman Albert Engels (1855–?) And his wife Clara Maria geb. Siebel (1860–1939) was born. His grandfather, the manufacturer and councilor Christian Hermann Siebel (1808–1878) was mayor of Barmen from 1848 to 1849 . After attending the Matthias-Claudius-Gymnasium in Hamburg-Wandsbek , he studied law in Tübingen and Kiel . During his studies in 1902 he became a member of the Tübingen fraternity Derendingia . In 1907 he was in Rostock for Dr. iur. PhD . In 1909 he passed his assessor exam and then became a lawyer in Hamburg. He took part in the First World War from 1914 to 1918, most recently as a lieutenant in the reserve .

In 1930 he became a member of the NSDAP ( membership number 402.068). From 1931 to 1933 he was a member of the Hamburg citizenship and the citizens' committee . From 1933 to 1945 he was a member of the board of the Hamburg Bar Association . In 1934 he was during the Rohm Putsch for 23 days in custody taken. He took part in World War II , most recently as a major in the reserve . After the war he worked as a lawyer in Hamburg again.
