In August 1936 he married Liselotte Schwedler, who also became his lyricist. From the late 1930s until October 1941, he worked as a musician and recording manager for the record company Tempo . Among other things, he worked there with Horst Winter , in whose orchestra he also worked as a saxophonist. Hasenpflug also made recordings with his own studio ensemble. The bandoneon virtuoso Fred Dömpke suggested several compositions for the accordion. Then he went to the radio; at the Deutschlandsender he was hired for the orchestra of Willi Stech and the German dance and entertainment orchestra . Shortly before the end of the war, Hasenpflug was called up as an officer candidate for military service in the Wehrmacht ; between April 14 and 21, 1945, he fell in Dessau.
