Curtina is a small city in Uruguay .
geography
It is located in the Tacuarembó department in sector 2 , a few kilometers east of the border with the neighboring Salto department . It is located around 50 kilometers south of the department capital , with which it is connected via the Ruta 5 . The distance to the state capital Montevideo is 336 kilometers, to the Rivera on the Brazilian border it is 124 kilometers. In the south of Curtina passes the Arroyo Malo , where the Paso Colman is located. The Cuchilla Aguará extends north of the village . Here lies the Cerro Arbolito . The area to the west is called Cuchilla Divisoria , while the landscape south of Ruta 5 is called Cuchilla de la Pampa . There flows with the Arroyo Calengo a right-hand tributary of the Arroyo Malo .
history
Curtina, originally known as San Máximo , was founded by legal decree (Ley 3.189) and the resulting official classification in the status of " Pueblo " on July 5, 1907 on the basis of private initiative. Previously it was the capital of the Sección Judicial Arroyo Malo .
Infrastructure
Curtina is connected to the road network and thus also the national bus network via the Ruta 5 , at whose kilometer point 334 it is located. The place, connected to the water supply, the electricity and the telephone network, has two educational institutions as well as a police station, a polyclinic, a post office, three sacred buildings and a cemetery. A soccer field is also available.

Curtina is located in a region where forestry is the main industry.
