The Curtiss Bay is a bay on the Davis Coast of Graham Lands on the Antarctic Peninsula . It lies between Cape Sterneck in the west and Cape Andreas in the east.
Its original name Bahía Inútil (literally translated: Useless Bay ) on Argentine maps from 1957 was considered misleading as the bay was used as an anchorage. That is why it renamed the UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee in 1960. It is named after the American aviation pioneer Glenn Curtiss (1878–1930), who particularly distinguished himself in the development of seaplanes.
