The two follow- up albums The Scattering and Compus Mentus could not build on the success of the debut.

So playing guitarist MacMichael along with Robert Plant . Singer van Eede toured Germany at Christmas 2002 with “ The Nokia Night of the Proms ”.

MacMichael died of lung cancer on December 31, 2002 .

Nick van Eede started the music project "Grinning Souls" in 2003 and released an album of the same name in 2005, which he dedicated to his late friend MacMichael. The record was not available in retail stores, it could only be ordered online.

In January 2006, Grinning Souls was released in Germany as "the new cutting crew album". In February 2006 Nick van Eede toured Germany with guest musicians under the name Cutting Crew. Colin Farley and Martin Beedle were not on stage.
