Cutting Crew is a British - Canadian band best known in the 1980s with the singles (I Just) Died in Your Arms and I've Been in Love Before .
Band history
Cutting Crew was founded by the Englishman Nicholas "Nick" van Eede and the Canadian Kevin MacMichael. In 1986 the debut album Broadcast was released , which also became the band's most commercially successful album . The release (I Just) Died in Your Arms reached number 1 on the US charts . The two follow- up albums The Scattering and Compus Mentus could not build on the success of the debut.
After bassist Colin Farley and drummer Martin Beedle left the band after their second album, Cutting Crew finally broke up in the early 1990s. The band members stayed active in the music business. So playing guitarist MacMichael along with Robert Plant . Singer van Eede toured Germany at Christmas 2002 with “ The Nokia Night of the Proms ”.
MacMichael died of lung cancer on December 31, 2002 .
Nick van Eede started the music project "Grinning Souls" in 2003 and released an album of the same name in 2005, which he dedicated to his late friend MacMichael. The record was not available in retail stores, it could only be ordered online.
In January 2006, Grinning Souls was released in Germany as "the new cutting crew album". In February 2006 Nick van Eede toured Germany with guest musicians under the name Cutting Crew. Colin Farley and Martin Beedle were not on stage.
