Cyanide SA , often also known as Cyanide Studios or Cyanide Studio , is a French computer game developer based in Nanterre , France .
history
Cyanide was founded in 2000 by seven former employees of the French computer game manufacturer Ubisoft , including Patrick Pligersdorffer . The company is headquartered in Nanterre, a suburb west of the state capital Paris . In addition, the studio has had a branch in Montreal , Canada , since 2007 , and another one was opened later in Chengdu , People's Republic of China .
The studio developed games in a wide variety of genres. Since 2001, the company has published new versions of its racing bike simulation every year, initially under the name Cycling Manager (2001-2004), then Pro Cycling Manager (since 2005). In Germany, the games appeared under different names as Erik Zabel's Cycling Manager (2001-2002), Cycling Manager (2003-2004), Cycling Manager Pro (2005-2007) and meanwhile as Le Tour de France (since 2008). In 2004 the company released the Chaos League , a sports simulation based on a fantasy variant of American football . Previously, the company had unsuccessfully tried to obtain a license for the similar Blood Bowl published by Games Workshop as a tabletop , an offshoot of Warhammer Fantasy . It wasn't until 2009 that Cyanide released an officially licensed game called Blood Bowl , followed by Dungeonbowl in 2012 . In 2007, Cyanide released the action role-playing game Loki: In the Bannkreis der Götter . In 2009 the company secured the license for computer games in the fantasy universe A Song of Ice and Fire by George RR Martin . The studio thus acquired the rights before the filming rights were granted to the US commercial broadcaster HBO . Cyanide developed a strategy game called A Game of Thrones: Genesis and a role-playing game called Game of Thrones , which was published as the official companion product to the HBO series adaptation of the novel series. It tells a story that is independent of the original and the series, which was developed by Cyanide itself and mainly checked for compliance with the canon by George RR Martin.
In May 2018, after the studio had previously had an intensive partnership with the French publisher Focus Home Interactive , Cyanide was finally taken over by Focus' competitor Bigben Interactive .
