Of Orcs and Men

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Of Orcs and Men is an action role-playing game from the French development studios Cyanide Studios and Spiders for Windows , PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 . It takes place in a fantasy world in which goblins and orcs are persecuted and oppressed by humans. The orcish elite warrior Arkail receives the order to kill the emperor of the people. He is supported by the goblin assassin Styx. The game was published in October 2012 by the French publisher Focus Home Interactive .

On Of Orcs and Men was followed by two thematic successor, Styx: Master of Shadows (2014) and Styx: Shards of Darkness (2017), which made the Goblin Styx for the sole protagonist and the playful emphasis on stealth installed.

Gameplay

The game is presented from a shoulder perspective . The player can control both Arkail and Styx. Switching is possible at any time at the push of a button and is necessary for play, as both characters have different skills. Arkail's specialty are powerful melee attacks, while Styx can make himself invisible and secretly take out opponents. In a combined action, Arkail can throw Styx on ledges. The battles take place in real time, but can be paused to give up to four consecutive action commands. Through the battles, both characters collect experience points that can be used to gradually develop their skills.
