Focus Home Interactive SA is a listed publisher for computer games, founded in 1996 and based in Paris ( France ). In addition to the distribution of foreign titles on the French market, the company now also develops and sells its own productions. Well-known publications by the company include titles from the Sherlock Holmes and TrackMania series , licensed games for the tabletop brands Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40,000, and sports games from the Radsport Manager Pro and Virtual Skipper series .

history

Focus Home Interactive was founded in 1996 by Denis Thébaud. The company initially released pornographic software, but then moved its business from online to music software and eventually computer games due to increasing competition. On June 25, 2010, the company announced the acquisition of the trademark rights to Cities XL from the dissolved developer Monte Cristo .

In 2015 the company went public and was listed in Alternext . The publisher delivered one of the best IPOs of 2015, which increased the company's value to 100 million euros. The company achieved successes above all in the segment of medium-budget productions, where it stood out from the large-scale productions of market leaders such as Electronic Arts , Ubisoft and Activision Blizzard . Published in 2009 with Focus Home Interactive Blood Bowl from Cyanide the first game based on the Warhammer based -Spieluniversum. In 2017 the company announced a license agreement with the role-playing game publisher White Wolf for the development of a computer game for the role-playing world of Werewolf: The Apocalypse .

In April 2018, managing director Cédric Lagarrigue announced his departure after more than 20 years. Disagreements about the company's strategic direction were assumed to be the reason. His successor was the German Jürgen Goeldner , founder of Rushware including its subsidiary Softgold and, as COO of Eidos, the main organizer of the takeover by Square Enix . In May, the competitor Bigben Interactive also took over the long-standing partner studio Cyanide, which to date had made a major contribution to the Focus Home Interactive product lineup. According to a report in the newspaper Le Monde , Lagarrigue also wanted to acquire Cyanide, but did not get the approval of its board of directors. This is also said to have been the reason for Lagarrigue's withdrawal. Not least because sales also fell, the share price fell by around 40% by mid-May 2018.
