Mordheim: City of the Damned

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mordheim: City of the Damned is a tactical computer role-playing game based on the model of the tabletop game Mortheim , in the role -playing universe Warhammer Fantasy . It was developed by the Canadian development studio Rogue Factor and published by Focus Home Interactive on November 19, 2015, initially for Windows , and finally also for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 18, 2016 .

background

A comet, the so-called Morrstein, has fallen over the town of Mortheim (as the German spelling is). Various groups set out in search of his legacy and therefore roam the city. The various gangs clash again and again.

Gameplay

The player selects his group of fighters from several groups (Reiklanders, Sigmar's sisters, Chaos-possessed, Skaven, via DLC : undead, witch hunters). He and his group go into randomly generated missions with random starting conditions. The goal is always to destroy the opposing troops or to put them to flight. With the help of the booty and the experience gained in combat, you can improve your own fighters between operations. In this way, they become more and more powerful over time. Conversely, injuries in combat can also lead to permanent impairment or even death of the respective fighters, so that they have to be replaced by new comrades-in-arms.

“In the test, Mordheim: City of the Damned manages the difficult balancing act between the depth of the tabletop set of rules and gaming fun. But only if you embark on a steep learning curve and are ready to tolerate rough edges. "

- Adam Blaszczyk : Test report Gamestar

"Technically weak, playfully convincing round tactics with excellent character development."

- Benjamin Schmädig : Test report 4Players

“But if you were hoping for a new squad-based game with the finesse of XCOM, or the many tactical choices of Jagged Alliance 2, this is not it. Mordheim is dumb. Mordheim is flawed. Mordheim tries hard and doesn't succeed. This is not a happy Christmas, everyone, but the misshapen horror of Faschnat. It's your present from Krampus. "

“But if you were hoping for a new squad-based game with the finesse of an XCOM or the many tactical possibilities of a Jagged Alliance 2 , you won't find it here. Mordheim is stupid. Mordheim is flawed. Mordheim tries so hard and still doesn't make it. It's not a merry Christmas for everyone, but the misshapen horror of Carnival. It's your Krampus gift. "

- Paul Dean : Test report Rock, Paper, Shotgun
