Runaway 2 - The Dream of the Turtle is a comic- style point-and-click adventure released in 2006 . It was developed by the Spanish Péndulo Studios and is the continuation of the successful graphic adventure game Runaway: A Road Adventure . The third part, Runaway: A Twist of Fate , was released in 2009.

action

The game picks up where the predecessor left off. After physics student Brian Basco and stripper Gina Timmins cleverly appropriated the Mafia's money , they set off on a vacation to Hawaii . There they both decide to explore a famous waterfall on the island of Mala. During the flight there, the pilot suffers a heart attack. Brian gives Gina the machine's only parachute and knocks her off the plane over a tropical lake on the island while he crashes with the plane.

Brian survived the crash and went in search of Gina - only to find that her departure point was in a restricted military area controlled by the stubborn Colonel Kordsmeier. After he has managed to get into the facility with the help of some locals and Joshua, the quirky researcher from Part 1, he does not find his girlfriend, but alien technology. Only after the escape and a meeting with the scientist James Simon in Alaska does light come into the darkness:

Simon belongs to a worldwide group of people who are in contact with the planet Trantor - an extraterrestrial world to which Joshua once traveled. Trantor and Earth have been exchanging terrestrial species for alien technology for several years. In addition to Simon, Kordsmeier was once a member of the association, until it split off after getting wind of a powerful Trantorian weapon. While the strangers fell over Mala on a flying visit, Kordsmeier cordoned off the area and secured the services of the ship's cook called John Doe . He wants to hand over the weapon to the Colonel and also gave him the material "Trantonite", the aliens' energy source. Since these are now unable to act, spaceship commander Alpha sent Joshua back to earth with a message for Simon, asking for rescue.

In addition, the wrecked Trantorians found Gina, who had fallen into the lake, and put it into stasis because they lack the energy to heal. In order not to lose his girlfriend, Brian sets out with Joshua to get replacement Trantonite and reactivates his old friends Sushi Douglas, Rutger and Saturn. Together with an adventurer, the group set off for the Pacific to find a lost pirate ship . Trantonite is said to have also been found on this. During a dive, Brian had an accident in the collapsing wreck and afterwards had a vision of the pirate mission at the time. As a result - after he is ultimately saved - he has the inspiration of where the Trantonite is hidden and finds it.

The last sequence shows that Brian seems to give up in the face of Gina's rescue and the hurdles still to be overcome, before all his friends encourage him and support him. The game closes with an open ending and leaves many storylines unresolved. These storylines are continued in the third part, Runaway - A Twist of Fate .
