MudRunner , originally Spintires: Mudrunner , is a vehicle simulation video game featuring off-road vehicles developed by Saber Interactive and published by Focus Home Interactive . It was released on October 31, 2017 for Microsoft Windows , PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and is a spin-off or sequel to the Windows-exclusive game Spintires from 2014, which was developed by Oovee Game Studios. On November 27, 2018, the game was also released for the Nintendo Switch in a version of the base game including the American Wilds DLC.
It was added to Xbox Game Pass in December 2018 . Similar to Spintires , MudRunner gives the player control of various off-road vehicles such as trucks and SUVs as they move back and forth between different locations to perform tasks.
The successor SnowRunner was released on April 28, 2020 .
Style of play
MudRunner is an off-road vehicle simulation video game that involves driving through muddy, unpaved roads and bodies of water in various off -road vehicles with the help of a map and a compass , performing various tasks. The aim of the game is, among other things, to transport tree trunks and trailers to their destination, to repair and refuel vehicles and to reach other goals. In the "Challenge" mode, various main and secondary tasks are specified that are to be fulfilled. The players can drive the vehicles and use various special functions such as the cable winch installed on each vehicle and special functions that can be used for individual vehicles and bodies. The "Challenge" mode shows nine small map sections, each based on a specific game function and intended to teach the player the various aspects of the game and to support the tutorial . Each level also has three bonus objectives that can be achieved in order to achieve success; they do not offer in-game rewards.
There are both single player and multiplayer co-op modes, both of which use the same six main maps.

On the review aggregation site Metacritic , MudRunner received a total of 67 and 72 points for the versions for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, respectively, which indicates "mixed or average reviews", and for the PC version a score of 77, which means "generally good Reviews ”displays. Nintendo Life rated the Nintendo Switch version of the game a 7/10, praising the quality of the Switch port and the lush surroundings of the American Wilds DLC that came with the game, but also criticized the previous version's “frustrating design flaws” such as this Lack of an automatic navigation system.
