Lilli Behrens (born January 18, 1869 as Elisabeth Krämer in Gemünden am Main ; † September 27, 1959 in Munich ) was a German draftsman and textile artist as well as a designer of reform clothing and paste paper . She was the wife of Peter Behrens .

Life

Elisabeth, called "Lilli", was the daughter of the district administrator Josef Krämer and around 1890 she married Peter Behrens, then a painter of the Art Nouveau movement in Munich. The son Josef was born there on November 7, 1890 . In 1898 their daughter Petra († 1993) was born, who later became a fashion illustrator and fashion journalist.

In 1894 Lilli Behrens appeared as an artist with her own works and designs for carpets , pillows and the like. Around 1900 she expanded her field of activity by making a name for herself in Darmstadt as a protagonist of reform clothing for women. For this she received a gold medal at an arts and crafts exhibition in Leipzig . From 1902 she produced paste paper for bookbinding purposes. Sheets of paste paper, which she created in Düsseldorf in 1910 , are in the colored paper collection of the German Museum of Books and Writing .
