The Cylindropuntieae are a tribe in the subfamily Opuntioideae from the cactus family .

description

The species of the tribe Cylindropuntieae grow shrubby or form cushions. The cylindrical shoots are well articulated and branch predominantly at their tips. Occasionally they form plants with a distinct trunk and lively side branches. The foliage leaves on it are succulent and persistent in the Pereskiopsis and Quiabentia species , while only short-lived leaf rudiments are formed in the remaining species. The thorns may or may not have a paper-like sheath.

Systematics and distribution

The tribe Cylindropuntieae is distributed from North America to the northeast of South America . It was set up in 1999 by Alexander Borissovitch Doweld .
