features

Cynoglossum sphacioticum is a perennial rhizome - geophyte , which reaches heights of growth of 5 to 18 centimeters. The rhizome is lignified and branched. The leaves measure 15 to 25 × 3 to 6 millimeters. The crown is deep blue or purple, 4 to 6 millimeters in size and without network nerves. The gullet scales are crescent-shaped.

The flowering period extends from June to August.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 24.

Occurrence

Cynoglossum sphacioticum is endemic to Crete in the prefecture of Chania . The species grows on scree slopes in the Lefka Ori at altitudes of 1700 to 2450 meters.
