Cyrill Demian

Cyrill Demian (* 1772 or 1774 in Silwasch , Transylvania , † November 1, 1847 in Vienna ) was an Austrian organ and piano builder . He is considered to be the inventor of the modern accordion.

Life

He lived in Vienna, Mariahilfer Strasse No. 43. In 1805 he applied for a privilege in Vienna and in 1810 was granted unlimited authorization as a piano maker. On May 23, 1829, he and his sons Carl (* July 6, 1807 Vienna) and Guido (* November 24, 1811 Vienna) were granted a privilege (patent) for the invention of the accordion . One of these instruments was given away by the Swedish Princess Brahe to the musical instrument maker Johannes Dillner in Sweden at the end of the 1820s and is now in private hands.
