Cyrill Matter

Cyrill Vincent Matter (* 1990 in Zurich ) is a Swiss portrait , fashion , advertising photographer and filmmaker .

Life

Cyrill Matter was born and raised in Zurich. After graduating from compulsory school , he worked in the publishing and advertising industries . During this time he discovered photography. From 2009 to 2011 he worked as an assistant , freelance photographer and filmmaker , mainly in Switzerland and South Africa . After an accident in 2012, he suffered from diplopia , damage to the eye muscle and the surrounding nerves, which leads to double vision . He was therefore forced to wear an eye patch until an operation by Daniel Mojon in 2015 was able to fully restore the function of the eye. He lives in Zurich , Paris and New York and is the official brand ambassador for the camera manufacturer Canon .

Matter's work has appeared in international publications such as GQ , Essential Homme , Hunter Magazin , Town & Country , Zeit Magazin , MAN of by WORLD and L'uomo Vogue . He portrayed the fashion designers Jean-Paul Gaultier and Tommy Hilfiger as well as many internationally renowned actors, including Joseph Gordon-Levitt , Jeremy Irons , Ewan McGregor , Christoph Waltz , Kiefer Sutherland and Liam Neeson . Other people of public interest were the German rapper Cro , creative director Thomas Hayo and the model Karlie Kloss .
