Dávid Hodek

Dávid Hodek (born September 19, 1997 in Komárno ) is a Slovak jazz musician ( drums , percussion ).

Hodek began playing Sonny Emory at the age of three, fascinated by a video tape of Earth, Wind and Fire ; soon he was receiving lessons from Vilmos Jávari at the Music Conservatory in Budapest. When he was four, friends of his grandfather brought him to play drums in their blues band, which performed at festivals in Slovakia and Hungary. In 2006 he founded the group V4JAZZ (an all-star band from the youngest talents of the Visegrád countries Slovakia, Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic), with which he also performed the following year. In 2008 he founded the Hodek Dávid Band (HDB) with professional musicians, with whom he released his debut album The First in 2010.

At the age of twelve, the Austrian Music Office declared Hodek “Talent of the Year” ( Hans-Koller-Preis ) 2009. In 2015 he had guest appearances in the big band of Gustav Brom . He can be heard on albums with Rado Tariška, Eugen Vizváry, Brigita Szelidová, Pavol Bereza and Eugen Botoš. In 2017 he toured Europe with the trio of Soweto Kinch ; a festival appearance by the Leibnitz Jazz Festival was broadcast internationally on the radio.
