Défi Val-de-Travers

The Défi Val-de-Travers (full name: Défi International Val-de-Travers ) is a marathon and ultra marathon that has been taking place at Couvet in Val de Travers since 1996 . The date of the event was previously in August, from 2007 in June. The program also includes a half marathon .

stretch

The marathon route begins in Couvet (730 m above sea level) and initially leads down the valley to Travers and Noiraigue . From there it goes up to the Soliat , where at 1465 m above sea level. M. the highest point is reached. From the Jura chain down, it goes back to Couvet via Môtiers , Fleurier and Boveresse . A total of around 800  meters of altitude has to be overcome.

The half marathon route goes directly from Couvet to the downhill section of the marathon route and reaches its highest point at 1112 m above sea level. M. at the hamlet of Le Couvent.

In 2007 there was again an ultramarathon course of 77 km on the Chasseron (1606 m above sea level).

history

In 1996, after more than two years, the first Défi Val-de-Travers with a 72 km long ultra marathon took place. In 2004 the ultra marathon had to be canceled due to bad weather and the resulting dangerous route. A midnight marathon was introduced in 2005, two marathons were held in 2006 and instead of the ultramarathon, the option of double starts was offered. In 2007 they returned to the old program.
