Désiré Asségnini Tagro (born January 27, 1959 in Issia , † April 12, 2011 in Abidjan ) was an Ivorian politician and interior minister . He was General Secretary of Laurent Gbagbo's presidency and a member of the Front Populaire Ivoirien .

Life

Désiré Asségnini Tagro, together with Gbagbo, his wife Simone and his confidants Alcide Djédjé and Pascal Affi N'Guessan , were affected by sanctions adopted by the United States on January 6, 2011 . All of his possessions were frozen and companies were not allowed to do business with him.

He and four other people were affected by UN Security Council resolution 1975 adopted on March 30, 2011 . In this he was banned from traveling and his assets were frozen.

Tagro died on April 12, 2011 in a clinic in Abidjan. According to spokesmen for Alassane Ouattara , he was among those arrested along with Gbagbo and was injured and brought to the Hotel du Golf and later admitted to a hospital where he eventually died. Pascal Affi N'Guessan, however, claimed that Tagro was murdered in the Hotel du Golf.
