Dóra María Lárusdóttir (born July 24, 1985 ) is an Icelandic football player . The defender has played over 100 international matches for the Icelandic women's national team in her career to date .

Athletic career

Thóra began her career with Valur Reykjavík , with whom she won her first championship title in 2004. From 2005 she studied at the University of Rhode Island . While she took part in the national college championships with the college team Rhode Island Rams , she continued to play for her Icelandic club during the semester break, especially in the summer, so that she was also involved in the championships in 2006, 2007 and 2008. After completing her studies in 2008, she concentrated on her Icelandic club again, followed by further championship titles in 2009 and 2010. In 2011 she moved abroad for the first time and was hired by the Swedish club Djurgården Damfotboll . After only one season she moved on to Brazil, with AAD Vitória das Tabocas - her compatriot Þórunn Helga Jónsdóttir was also signed - she took part in the Copa Libertadores Femenina 2012 , among others . She then returned to Valur Reykjavík.

After Dóra had already passed through various Icelandic junior teams, she made her debut in September 2003 in the senior national team. With this she qualified for the European Women's Championship 2009 , where she failed the selection in the group stage and had played all three games. Four years later, she took part in the 2013 European Women's Championship and played all four finals before she was eliminated by hosts Sweden in the quarter-finals.
