Peter Vikström (born January 4, 1977 in Piteå ) is a Swedish wheelchair tennis player .

Career

Peter Vikström started wheelchair tennis at the age of 21 and has been in the paraplegic class ever since . He participated in four Paralympic Games in his career .

In 2000 and 2004 he stayed at the Paralympics without winning a medal. In 2000 he reached the second round in singles and the second round in doubles. Four years later, he improved by one round each: he was eliminated in singles in the round of 16, in doubles in the quarterfinals. In 2008 he won the silver medal in the doubles competition with Stefan Olsson . In the final they lost to Stéphane Houdet and Michaël Jeremiasz . Four years later , he and Olsson won the gold medal in London after defeating Frédéric Cattaneo and Nicolas Peifer in the final.

At the Wheelchair Tennis Masters he reached the final in the doubles competition in 2008, which he won with Stefan Olsson against Maikel Scheffers and Ronald Vink . In the world rankings, he achieved his best placings with eighth place in singles on November 8, 2004 and sixth place in doubles on September 26, 2005.
