Maikel Scheffers (born September 7, 1982 in 's-Hertogenbosch ) is a Dutch wheelchair tennis player .

Career

Maikel Scheffers is active in both singles and doubles. He was already leading the world rankings in both disciplines: he achieved this for the first time in singles on December 19, 2011, and in doubles on June 27, 2011. He won the Australian Open in 2012 and the French Open the year before. At the US Open in 2009 he was in the final. He won the Wheelchair Tennis Masters in 2009. In doubles, he won all Grand Slams once: the Australian Open 2011, the French Open 2008, Wimbledon 2011 and the US Open 2010. He won the doubles Masters in 2006, 2009 and 2010.

Maikel Scheffers has participated twice in the Paralympic Games . In 2008 he won the bronze medal in singles in Beijing . In doubles he and Ronald Vink lost in the bronze medal game. In 2012 in London he also lost the bronze game, this time in an individual. In doubles he reached the quarter-finals with Tom Egberink .
