Nicolas Peifer (born October 18, 1990 in Saargemünd ) is a French wheelchair tennis player .
Career
Nicolas Peifer started wheelchair tennis at the age of 10 and has been in the paraplegic class ever since .
When he first participated in the Paralympic Games in 2008 , he reached the eighth finals in singles, where he was defeated by Stefan Olsson . In doubles he was also eliminated in the second round. In 2012 in London he won the silver medal in doubles. In the final, he and his partner Frédéric Cattaneo lost to Stefan Olsson and Peter Vikström . In the individual he did not get past the last sixteen again, this time he was defeated by Joachim Gérard . At the 2016 games in Rio de Janeiro , Peifer was eliminated again from Alfie Hewett in the round of 16 of the individual competition. In the doubles competition, however, he won the gold medal with Stéphane Houdet . In the final, they defeated Alfie Hewett and Gordon Reid in three sets.
At the Wheelchair Tennis Masters he has been in the finals once in both singles and doubles. In 2013 he lost in doubles, in 2014 he lost the singles final against Shingo Kunieda . In Grand Slam tournaments he gained five titles in doubles. He won both the French Open and the US Open in 2011 . In 2015 he won the title at Wimbledon . He won the Australian Open in 2016 and the French Open in 2017 . The singles are finals at the Australian Open, the French Open and the US Open, but he did not win the title.
In the world rankings, he achieved his best placements with second place in singles in August 2013 and second place in doubles in November 2016.
