The Dörnerberg is a 478.1 m high mountain in the Obereichsfeld in the Eichsfeld-Hainich-Werratal Nature Park in Germany .

location

The Dörnerberg is located in the west of the Unstrut-Hainich district between the villages of Diedorf in the north, Heyerode in the east and Schierschwende in the southwest about 12 kilometers west of Mühlhausen / Thuringia . It is the southernmost mountain in the Obereichsfeld and naturally belongs to the Falkener Platte at the transition to the Hainich , the Upper Eichsfeld and the Lower Werrabergland .

The Dörnerberg lies in the area of ​​the Eichenberg – Gotha – Saalfeld fault zone and consists mainly of shell limestone . The mountain is forested in the west and south and is also used for agriculture on the northern slope. There are areas with semi-arid grassland and silver thistle occurrences.

From the Dörnerberg you have a beautiful view of the heights of the southern Eichsfeld and the northern Hainich.
