The Aurach Drought is a brook in the Vöcklabruck district in Upper Austria .

It is formed from several source streams that arise on the northern slopes of the Flysch Mountains Hohe Luft, Hongar, Alpenberg and Schiefgrubberg in the municipality of Aurach am Hongar . It then flows north through the village of Aurach, to which it gave its name, and flows into the Ager at Preising (municipality of Regau ) .

The Aurach Drought is not to be confused with the Aurach , which flows almost parallel and flows into the Ager just a few kilometers downstream.

It is a typical Flyschbach whose water level swells quickly when it rains. In periods without precipitation it often falls dry, as the part of the name "arid" suggests. The Aurach drought has a natural character and is largely undeveloped. It is designated as a landscape protection area with a strip of 50 meters on both banks. Over long stretches there is a wood that accompanies the banks of alder , ash and willow . The stone crab is  native to the Dürren Aurach .

The name Aurach means something like "creek where aurochs graze" ( ahd. Ūr = aurochs and aha = flowing water).
