D'amour et d'eau fraîche is a 2010 French drama film directed by Isabelle Czajka .

action

Julie is 23 and after completing her studies she will start working for the PR agency Alter Ego . She quickly realizes that work is not for her: instead of doing demanding tasks, she is used by her manager as a nanny and has to get lunch for work meetings only to realize that while she was away, others have already done this job faster. Julie was released after a short time. In order to be able to pay for her 600 euro room in Paris, she now works in a photo shop. A second job, in which she is to do door-to-door sales with pensioners as a representative for a publishing house, is too much for her. In the end, she sleeps with her boss and then quits. The only bright spot in this work is Ben, whom she met during the interview. He lends her a car and, on a later outing, offers to take her with him to a house on the border with Spain that he is supposed to renovate. Julie declines because she needs to find work.

In the summer she goes to her mother, who is currently visiting her older brother Mathieu with his wife and child. Mathieu works in Sweden and plans to settle there in the long term. He got Julie to work at Alter Ego and is now horrified to find out that Julie has been fired. He reproaches her for wasting her life like her father and not taking everyday life seriously. Annoyed, Julie packs her things and leaves. She calls Ben, who takes her to the villa on the Spanish border. Without her knowledge, Ben steals sunglasses at a gas station, which he gives her as a present. Both spend a carefree summer day at the lake and finally sleep together.

The next morning Julie finds a pistol in a drawer. The villa, on the other hand, does not look shabby, so that Ben's statement that it needs to be renovated does not seem to be correct. Ben finally admits that he is at the border for a job: he smuggles weapons across the border with his car, the work only takes half an hour and is well paid. Julie agrees to come and they both test out the gun. Later they drive unmolested across the border to Spain, change cars there and drive back to France. Shortly before the border, Ben is approached by an unknown man who asks him for a cell phone. Ben is suspicious, but he and Julie get back to France without any problems. Here they change the car again and find the 3000 euros in the new car as payment for the assignment. You go cocky in a nearby supermarket. When they leave, Ben is arrested. Julie pulls the gun and threatens the policeman. She and Ben flee in their car, but are caught and arrested after a short time. At the police station, Julie is asked for her personal details. She answers as she did in a job interview a few weeks earlier.
