Dewayne "DJ" White Jr. (born August 31, 1986 in Tuscaloosa , Alabama ) is an American basketball player .
college
In his first season in Indiana , White led all freshmen of the Big Ten Conference on points. After four years in college, he signed up for the 2008 NBA Draft .
Professional career
White was selected in the 29th place of the draft by the Detroit Pistons , but was transferred to the Oklahoma City Thunder on the same day . A jaw injury kept him from playing for a long time, however, his first NBA game he played on April 5, 2009, in a loss to the Indiana Pacers , in which he, coming off the bench, scored 14 points and two rebounds in 18 minutes . In his rookie season, White posted an average of 8.9 points and 4.6 rebounds in seven games with 18.6 minutes of play. In the following season he only played eight games before he was out again for a long time due to a fracture in his thumb. He made his comeback on March 21, 2010, again in a game against the Indiana Pacers, in which he scored six points and two rebounds in 10 minutes. At the end of the season there were 12 missions in which his statistics dropped significantly. Before the start of the 2010-2011 season, the Thunder took the option to extend his contract. On February 24, 2011, he and Morris Peterson were transferred to the Charlotte Hornets , then Bobcats, for Nazr Mohammed . In September 2012, White signed a contract with the Shanghai Sharks . On February 28, 2013, the Boston Celtics announced that they had put White on a 10-day contract. This was initially extended by a further 10 days, and on March 20 even extended to a permanent position for several years. Before the start of the new season he was transferred to the Brooklyn Nets , which released him again. In late September 2013, White joined the Chicago Bulls . On October 26, 2013, it was announced that the Chicago Bulls were giving up White. In April 2014 he signed a contract with the Charlotte Hornets.
