DeKaylin Zecharius Metcalf (* 14. December 1997 in Oxford , Mississippi ) is an American American football poker players. He plays on the position of the wide receiver . In the 2019 NFL Draft , he was selected in the second round by the Seattle Seahawks .

college

Metcalf played three years at the University of Mississippi Football. In his first year he only played two games and only caught two passes, but both of them led to a touchdown . In his sophomore year of college, Metcalf was used in 12 games and was able to record 39 pass catches for 7 touchdowns and 646 yards. In his third and final year of college, he was only able to play 7 games for Ole Miss due to an injury. In these 7 games Metcalf achieved 5 touchdowns and 569 yards with 26 caught balls.

NFL

Due to his physical appearance and performance in the NFL Combine , Metcalf was considered one of the most interesting wide receiver talents in the country in the run-up to the draft . In some mock drafts, experts saw Metcalf as the first choice for the NFL teams. Metcalf was selected by the Seattle Seahawks as the final second-round player in 64th place in the 2019 NFL Draft . Contrary to some expert predictions, Metcalf was drafted much later than expected.

Metcalf played as a starter for the Seahawks from week 1 of his rookie season ( 2019 ). In his debut against the Cincinnati Bengals , he caught 4 passes for 89 yards of space. Never before had a Seahawks rookie receiver gained so much space in his first game, the previous record holder was Steve Largent with 86 yards. Metcalf had his first touchdown a week later in the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers . In week 9 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers , Metcalf gained over 100 yards for the first time for the Seahawks.
