In 1992 the Deutsche Reichsbahn ordered three overhead line inspection cars (ORT) from Plasser & Theurer with the manufacturer's type designation MTW (motor tower car) 100.013. However, until 1994 it was still two years before delivery to DB AG. DB AG classified these vehicles as the 709 series .

Car body and interior

In this series, the car body extends almost the entire length of the frame .

In the interior of the railcar , a driver's cab was installed at each end . In between are lounges and a measuring station installed. The screen for video monitoring of the contact line is installed in the measuring station .
