history

With the opening of Hanau-Bebraer Railway in 1866 was built on the east side of the station Fulda the repair shop Fulda with spacious, modern workshop buildings. Here were locomotives and railroad cars repaired. In 1925, as part of the rationalization measures of the Deutsche Reichsbahn, the workshop in Fulda was given the task of reconditioning brake parts. Since then, the plant in Fulda has been a competence center for the repair and reconditioning of the brakes of rail vehicles.

In 1989/90 the historic site had to be left on the occasion of the station renovation in Fulda for the high-speed line Hanover – Würzburg . The repair shop received a new workshop and a new administration building.

The preserved historical buildings of the repair shop are now cultural monuments due to the Hessian Monument Protection Act .
