Thomas Heiler (* 1959 in Ludwigsburg ) is a German historian and archivist . He is head of both the city archive and the cultural office in the city of Fulda .

Life

Thomas Heiler was born in Ludwigsburg and grew up there. He attended high school in Freudenstadt and passed the Abitur there. He then studied history and German at the universities of Munich and Wützburg . He also completed a degree in archiving and education at the University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration and Justice in Bavaria , which he graduated with a degree in archivist. In 1998 he received his doctorate with a thesis on the historiographical work of Lorenz Fries . In the same year he became head of the city archives of the special status city ​​of Fulda. In 2011 he was also entrusted with the management of the cultural office in Fulda. In this function he is responsible for the castle theater, the Vonderau Museum , the municipal adult education center and the music school.

Heiler has been active on a voluntary basis as the second chairman and managing director of the "Fuldaer Geschichtsverein", known as the publisher of the Fuldaer Geschichtsblätter , and since 2004 as a research assistant and since 2007 also on the main committee of the Historical Commission for Hesse .
