Willy Kiefer

Willy Kiefer (* March 1927 in Fulda ; † February 2013 ) was a German civil servant, local researcher and author of several specialist books on local history.

Life

Kiefer achieved university entrance qualification at the cathedral school in Fulda . He then entered the senior administrative service with the Kassel government and, interrupted by being drafted for military service in the Second World War, from January 1945, worked for the Fulda district office from May 1945 . In 1955 he was appointed district inspector. In 1991 he retired after 47 years of service as a senior administrator at the district administration, where he was most recently head of the Office for Environmental Protection and Landscape Management. In connection with this, he has also been managing director of the Hessian Rhön Nature Park since it was founded in 1963 . Fulda 's Mayor Gerhard Möller named his work in environmental and nature conservation as pioneering work.

From 1980 to 2011, Kiefer was an honorary member of the board of the Fulda History Association. Both the museum village in Tann and the geological nature trail on the Wasserkuppe were largely made possible by his initiative.

He handed over his personal archive to the Fulda city archive himself.

He had been married since 1958 and had three children.
