Ann-Kristin Reyels

Ann-Kristin Reyels , b. Wecker (born September 16, 1976 in Leipzig ) is a German director and screenwriter .

Life

Reyels grew up in Leipzig. In 1990 she moved with her family to Nuremberg, where she graduated from high school in 1996. She began to study politics and history, which she dropped out after two months. Then she went to England for a year. In the following years she worked as an intern and assistant in several film and television productions, among other things as researcher and production assistant for Heinrich Breloer's Thomas Mann - A Centenary Novel , as assistant director for Norbert Keil's horror short Four Divided in Dawn and as second camera assistant for Peter von Hallers Come on, sweet death .

From 2001 she studied directing at the University of Film and Television "Konrad Wolf" , among others with Professor Helke Misselwitz . Reyels directed two short films during his studies. In 2004 she also directed a play at the Maxim-Gorki-Theater in Berlin with four other students .

In May 2007 her award-winning graduation film called Jagdhunde was released , which premiered at the Berlinale 2007 and was awarded, among other things, the FIPRESCI Prize . Reyel's second feature film, Formentera, premiered at the 2012 Berlinale.

Reyels is married to the guitar maker Johannes Reyels. She lives and works in Berlin.
