The DB Regio Westfalen GmbH was a 100 percent subsidiary of DB Regio AG . The company was founded in autumn 2009 and merged with the sister company DB Regio NRW on August 11, 2011 .
Route network
On April 28, 2010 it was announced that the DB Regio Westphalia will start operating on the "Münster West" network for 15 years when the timetable changes in December 2011.
The network comprises the following three lines:

The three lines are commissioned by the Westphalia-Lippe Local Transport Association (NWL) - with the two member associations Verkehrsgemeinschaft Münsterland (VGM) and SPNV Ruhr-Lippe (ZRL) -, the Rhine-Ruhr Transport Association (VRR, only RB 51) and the municipality of Enschede in the Dutch region of Twente of the province of Overijssel operated (64 only RB 51 and RB).
The service volume covers almost three million train kilometers annually on the approximately 216 kilometers of route.
34 vehicles of the 643.0 series that were previously used by DB Regio NRW are used on the three lines, but they were technically and visually overhauled before this operation.
