DICE is a German progressive rock band that was founded in Gütersloh in 1974 and moved to Frankfurt am Main in 1977. In 1992 composer, singer and band leader Christian Nóvé reactivated the band in Leipzig . Since 1995 until today DICE has released a new CD every year.

history

The original line-up of DICE has existed since 1974 and was founded by Christian Nóvé (g, voc), Andreas Schattschneider (g), Gerd Brummel (dr) and Norbert Schultze (effects). In 1979 the first LP appeared with musicians such as Alto Pappert (ex- Kraan ) and George Kochbeck . In 1983 the album Live-DICE followed , which was also released as a picture disc . The band has released an album every year since 1997. According to their own statements, the music is influenced by bands such as Pink Floyd , Hawkwind , Eloy , IQ , but also Marillion and The Flower Kings .

DICE celebrated its greatest success in front of around 3000 fans at the Munich Theatron MusikSommer open-air festival. The live recordings of this concert have been released on both CD and DVD.

In 2014 the band celebrated three anniversaries. DICE was founded 40 years ago: At first you played without a bass player at all, but shortly afterwards a saxophonist and then a second drummer joined them. (At the third gig in Gütersloh in 1975 a well-known bass player was loaned out on a trial basis from another band.) Furthermore, the CD Twentaurus is her twentieth album. The third anniversary was dedicated entirely to guitarist Peter Viertel, who has been here on his 10th DICE studio album since 2004. In 2015 the 21st album Son.Sister.Sun was released . The cover was made from four pictures that were painted by friends Nóvé at a party in 1978.

In 2017 the 23rd DICE album "Chance For The Link Of A Chain" was released. Using the example of the chain link, DICE philosophizes here about the importance of cohesion of every single person to keep the world in balance.

In 2018 the new 24th DICE album "What, If My Black Cat Is An Alien" was released.
