George Kochbeck

Jürgen "George" Kochbeck (born August 15, 1955 in Gütersloh ) is a German rock and fusion musician ( keyboards , vocals ) who has been working as a film composer since 1992 .

Live and act

As a schoolboy, Kochbeck founded his first band Bally Hoo in 1969 , influenced by beat and soul music ; the bands Virus and Skyline followed , in which he worked as a keyboardist, singer and composer. The album Louise for One Night (1976) was created with Skyline . In the next few years he played with musicians from the Hamburg scene such as Rolf Kühn , Rainer Baumann and Alex Conti and worked in the groups Dice , ES (with Zabba Lindner ) and Alto ( Happy Ambrosia ), then with Joachim Kühn and Mark Nauseef ( information ) and at Carsten Bohn's Bandstand .

In 1982 Kochbeck released his first solo album In Time , which (supported by drummer Pit Meufels) was largely recorded on his own. Since 1983 he has worked with Eberhard Schoener in his productions. In 1984 his second album, Hamlet Daydreams, was released . Together with Phill Edwards he founded the band Georgie Red , which existed until 1988 and released the hit albums We'll Work It Out (1986) and Helpless Dancer (1988); the titles "Help The Man", "Get In Touch" or "If I Say Stop?" made it into the charts. As a studio and session musician , he also worked with Peter Maffay , Ina Deter , Herwig Mitteregger , Ulla Meinecke , Manfred Maurenbrecher , Anne Haigis , Richard Wester and Philippe Caillat . In 1990 he was voted Germany's most popular keyboard player. The following year he presented his third solo album “C'est la blue”.

In addition to his involvement in various projects, Kochbeck has primarily been active as a film composer since 1992: In addition to music for the television series Tatort , Stahlnetz , Balko , Wolffs Revier , Großstadtrevier and SOKO Leipzig , he also composed for television and cinema films such as American Werewolf in Paris (1997 ) or Everything Bob! (1999). In 2007 Kochbeck's fourth solo album Seven Layers of Dust was released on his Monopalast label , on which he also released his own soundtracks.

He has been married to the journalist and comedian Sabine Bulthaup since 2003 .
