Alex Conti (born April 2, 1952 in Berlin ) is a German guitarist .

Live and act

Conti was already a professional musician in 1969 at the age of 17. In 1973 he spent a year with bands (including Curly Curve ) in England. In 1974 he joined the band Atlantis , where he replaced Dieter Bornschlegel on the electric guitar . With Atlantis, Conti was on tour through the USA in 1975 as opening act for Aerosmith and Lynyrd Skynyrd . He can be heard on the two Atlantis albums Ooh Baby and Atlantis Live . In 1975, after a brief interlude with Rudolf Rock & Die Schocker , Conti switched to Lake , whose debut album in 1976 was a European success and topped several charts. Since the band was also successful in the USA, several tours took place there in 1977 and 1978. a. with Neil Young and again with Lynyrd Skynyrd.

1980 Conti left the band Lake, which was to split up in 1988. He released two solo albums in 1981 and 1984 , after which he joined the Hamburg band Elephant for two years . In 1986 and 1987 there was a collaboration with Herwig Mitteregger on his albums Immer mehr und Immermal . In 1993 he played on his "The Best Songs 1983-1993" tour. He also worked on the album Aus der Stille in 1997 and accompanied the tour of the same name. From 1990 to 1994 Conti led his own band Rosebud, with which he released three albums. In 1997 he also recorded an album with the former Atlantis singer Inga Rumpf . Conti has been a member of the Hamburg Blues Band since 1992 , with whom he has made four CDs and performed over 1000.

In 2000, Conti made a musical excursion into the past of rock music together with Frank Diez . Together with Colin Hodgkinson , Tony Hicks , keyboardist Wolfgang Norman Dalheimer and saxophonist Jon Smith, they re-recorded their favorite tracks of the 1960s and 1970s, which were only released in 2008 as Bärlin Blues Band under the title Berlin Blues .

In 2003 Conti helped found the band Lake, which went on tour again the following year and released their comeback album The Blast of Silence in 2005. From autumn 2006 Conti also worked together with Richie Arndt , Gregor Hilden and Henrik Freischlader on the production of the album Rorymania , which also involved two tours on this project.

In 2008 Alex Conti took part in the CD Kaleidoscopia by the Swiss musician Beatnik. On this album, bassist Raoul Walton, keyboardist Mathias Ulmer and drummer Peter Kumpf also played members of the current line-up of the group Anyones Daughter.

In 2009 Conti recorded an instrumental album that was released on April 30, 2010 under the title Shetar .

In 2010, Conti was with Lake for the third time support a tour of Lynyrd Skynyrd, this time in Germany. Another project with the blues guitarists Timo Gross and Richie Arndt led to the release of the CD The Vineyard Sessions Vol. II , which was followed by a tour of the same name. This album was nominated for the German Record Critics' Prize.
